From the President

With the season fast approaching we find ourselves excitedly waiting in anticipation of what the 2019 season will produce for us and I am confident it will once again be a very successful year for the Traralgon Football Netball Club.

I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome all new members and their families to our great club and I’d like to also extend a warm welcome back to all of last year’s members and supporters.

Since the end of the 2018 season we have been extremely busy with a lot of change and new processes being introduced across the entire club, one of major changes was the appointment of Tim McGibney to the role of senior football coach……welcome to Tim, Ashlee and family.

We have also been very fortunate to secure some fantastic new platinum partners for 2019 and beyond and we welcome Gibson’s Dentistry, ARB Traralgon, KFC Traralgon, BMC and Traralgon Harley Davidson on board as sponsors. The ongoing partnership arrangements in place for all of our sponsors is vital to the financial security of the club moving forward and I thank each and every one of them for their generous support.

On behalf of the club I’d also like to acknowledge the wonderful support again of the club’s major partner, P & D Rigging and Crane Hire who have greatly supported us for many years.

We welcome the long overdue upgrade of the netball court that will also include new lighting and will provide a much safer environment for our netballers to train and play. These upgrades will also enable us to host night games of netball in conjunction with football. We will also continue to push for new change facilities for our netballers. The football change rooms will also see some new much needed floor coverings installed prior to round one.

This year we have embarked on a huge fundraising opportunity for our club in conjunction with new platinum partner, Traralgon Harley Davidson and some of our other sponsors in the form of a monster raffle that includes a $35K Harley Davidson motor bike as first prize. This raffle offers us a huge opportunity to help secure our club financially this year and beyond and I cannot stress enough how important it is that ALL members and supporters of our club get behind it to ensure its success.

We have also seen the introduction of a new supporter’s club (Roosters Club) that has been very well received. This group of fifty members will provide the club with much needed funds that will be primarily be used to help with football department expenses. I’d like to thank everyone who helped set this club up, and also thank the wonderful members of the Rooster’s Club for their support.

We have also put a lot of effort into introducing an online membership option for our members as well as an online merchandise store that will enable easy purchasing of club apparel for our members and supporters. Thank you to everyone involved in setting up these important online links that will make these roles so much easier moving forward.

I would like to thank my wonderful committee for their support throughout the off season and look forward to working with you all in pursue of success in 2019. I’d also like to wish our players, coaches and volunteers all the very best for the year ahead.

In closing I say welcome again to everyone to the 2019 season – it’s now time we all dig in and do your bit to help make it a memorable season for the mighty Maroons and I implore everyone involved at this great club to embrace the ‘one club’ philosophy that I know will deliver us all the fun and success that this club continues to achieve and expect.… bring on round one - GO MAROONS!

Andrew (Livo) Livingstone
President TFNC

The Traralgon Football Netball Club is renowned for its community involvement and efforts with men’s and women’s footballers and netballers. Our sponsors are very loyal and willing to support the Club in its endeavours and this year we are once again privileged to be finalising new sponsors for the TFNC. We thank both our new and existing sponsors for their continued support in season 2019 as we could not put our plans into place without the generous support of our sponsors.

Our committee and club all work extremely hard with the aim to ensure that ALL our sponsors are recognised and are well supported by all players, members and supporters of our club.

We certainly encourage the local community to get behind the Club as we truly appreciate and value the support we receive.

We continue to work extremely hard in our endeavours to engage with the entire community and this year is no different. The TFNC is a great place for young sportsmen and women and we need our local community to be involved to share in their achievements.

Past Players:

The Traralgon Football Netball Club Past Players & Officials wish all coaches, players, committee, trainers, support staff and volunteers a successful 2019. In particular we welcome all new coaches, players, personnel, sponsors and their families to the Traralgon Football Netball Club.

Not only will you hopefully have a successful year on the field or on the courts, but a most enjoyable time during 2019. Plenty of work has been happening behind the scenes by Livo and his team which we will see translate into success by our football and netball teams.

As a past players committee we have proposed a major reunion event on the Queen’s Birthday weekend when we face arch rivals Morwell. At this early stage we will endeavour to have a number of former Traralgon players who went onto play at VFL and AFL level come back home and celebrate what is great about our club.

We should be very proud of the many champions who commenced their career at Traralgon and went on to play at the highest level. We have had former Traralgon players become VFL/AFL captains, best and fairest winners, leading goal kickers and Brownlow Medallist’s. Our committee will have more to say in the coming weeks, but again we wish everyone a successful and healthy 2019 season.

All the best to all associated with the Club in 2019 and go Maroons!

Russell Northe – Chair TFNC Past Players & Officials

Coaches Report:

Football: I would like to start by thanking the President, Andrew Livingstone, the Traralgon Football Netball Club, committee, players, supporters, sponsors and wider Traralgon community for the wonderful welcome my family and I have had to the club. It feels like home already.

I would also like to acknowledge the work and efforts of the previous coach Mark Collison. Mark has left a solid foundation and a committed core group of players for me to work with and along with this has committed to staying with the club as a player for 2019 which is very exciting.

Pre-season to this point has been extremely pleasing and improving every session. The boys are training extremely hard and the intensity on the track is translating into high standards which has been fantastic to watch grow over the course. We have also been lucky enough to add some exciting players to our list for 2019, Tom Dunn (RUCK) Chris Thuring (MID) Sam Le Lievre (MID) & Cam Whiteoak (FWD) just to name a few and also excited to welcome back a large group of players that are returning to the club for 2019.

Some of our highlights so far this pre-season was our camp to the Summit in which the players were put through a gruelling obstacle course and numerous team building activities over two days. Another highlight was our mixed netball game with some of the girls from the different netball grades. Everyone had a lot of fun and we will be aiming to build that relationship between the netball & football even stronger as the year moves forward.

We have also had a couple of intra club matches and these will be followed shortly by practice matches against Traralgon Tyers United, Nar Nar Goon and VFL Side Frankston giving ourselves the best opportunity to perform for round (1).

Can’t wait for the games to begin

Tim McGibney - Senior Coach

Welcome back to what promises to be an exciting year for the Traralgon Maroons Netball Club. Team selections have been finalised. With a number of new players and juniors moving into seniors & existing senior players, the standard of players was extremely strong, making the task of selecting teams quite difficult.

The 2019 coaches are confident that we will be competitive throughout all grades, both junior & senior. We will continue to focus on the development of players as well as building the club culture both on the court and socially, and I look forward to see what the Maroons can do in 2019.

Good luck to all sides in 2019 and let’s make it a successful one!

Caitlan Ponton – Senior Coach
